Pregnant fashion designer Stella McCartney spent a night in hospital earlier this week after complaining of bleeding and pains in the abdomen.

The daughter of ex-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney, who is seven months pregnant with her second child, was monitored by doctors at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital over Monday night.

The 34-year-old was told her unborn baby is OK, but had she not attended hospital the consequences would have been “dire”.

An insider tells The Sun, “Her condition was viewed as serious by doctors.

“Medics warned her she must now rest completely up until the birth. This means total bed rest.”

McCartney and her husband Alasdhair Willis have an 18-month-old son, Miller.
